HORTENCE BARR, BS "What book do you want?" asks Mrs.
Hortence Barr as she checks the library shelves. Mrs. Barr
is the head sponsor of the Freshman class. Included among
her many duties are taking care of the school library,
teaching Algebra I, Latin I and II, and Spanish I ARLINE DENNIS, B.S. Blowing up a volleyball is
just one of Miss Dennis' many jobs. As head of the girls'
Physical Education Department, she must be full of energy to
keep up with her classes. Miss Dennis is the head sponsor of
Pep Club and a sponsor of Kayettes. ALICE CLERICO, B.S., M.S. "This is the way", says Mrs. Alice
Clerico, our Home Economics teacher. Mrs. Clerico, head of
the Economics Department, teaches Foods I and II and
Clothing I, II and III. She is a sponsor of the Junior Class
and of Kayettes. NOEL GANOUNG, B.S. "Do it right," says Mr. Noel Ganoung as he
works with his shop class. Mr. Ganoung teaches junior high
shop and drawing, Mechanical Drawing I, II and III, and Shop
I, II and III. He is a sponsor of the Junior Class. WILLIAM FINK, B.A. "They went that-a-way," says Mr. William Fink as he
illustrates his point on a map. Mr. Fink teaches American
Government to the Seniors and American History to the
Juniors. He is a sponsor of both the Senior Class and
Kays. CHARLES HECKART, A.B. "And what is the capital of this country?"
queries Mr. Charles Heckart as he points to the globe. Mr.
Heckart teaches World History, supervises Study Hall, and is
coach of Freshman athletics. GARLAND LONGHOFER, B.S., M.E. "These I.Q. tests are revealing, aren't they?" says Mr.
Garland Longhofer as he visits with some students. Besides
being a guidance counselor, Mr. Longhofer teaches Algebra I
and General Mathematics, and sponsors the Student
Council. LYLE McVAY, B.S. "This is driving?!" asks Mr. Lyle McVay. Mr.
McVay teacher Vocal Music, Driver Education and Tennis. DEANA McCLURE, A.B. "I'm proud of you girls," says Miss Deana McClure after
the Kayettes had received their 9000-point award. Along with
being a Kayette sponsor, Miss McClure teaches English I,
Literature I, and Speech. She also sponsors Junior Red Cross
and Pep Club. CAROLYN MATTINGLY, B.S., M.S. "How many times must I tell your? You are
supposed to use your left hand, not your right!" explains
Miss Carolyn Mattingly, Head of the Commercial Department.
She is the sponsor of the Senior Class and of the
Yearbook. DONALD MARTIN, B.S. "It's easy to add with a machine," says Mr. Donald Martin
as he demonstrated the operation of an adding machine. Mr.
Martin teaches Bookkeeping I and II and Business Law. He is
also a Kay sponsor and a Sophomore Class Sponsor. J. HENRY REB, A.B. "Dig those crazy amoebas", says Mr. J. Henry
Reb as he works in his laboratory. Mr. Reb teaches biology,
physics, and golf. He is a sponsor of the Junior Class. R. G. RENOE, B.M.E. "Well, let's see how well you can do today," says Mr. R.
G. Renoe, who directs the Grade, Junior High, and High
School Bands. ERNEST SWENSON, A.B. "Now to get down to business," says Mr.
Ernest Swenson as he reaches for the gloves. Mr. Swenson,
Assistant Coach, teaches Junior High Gym and Boys' Physical
Education, supervises Study Hall, and also sponsors
Kays. S. M. STEELE, B.S. Mr. S. M. Steele, more commonly known as "Mac",
illustrates tomorrow's assignment while thinking of the
up-coming game. Mac is a sponsor of the Sophomore Class and
teaches Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, and Plane Geometry.
He is also Head Coach of O.H.S. MILLARD WREN, B.S. "It's not that I don't believe in 'going
steady', but, "says Mr. Millard Wren as he is teaching his
Psychology Class. Mr. Wren is head sponsor of Kays, sponsor
of the Sophomore Class, and teaches English II, Literature
II, and American History. ELEANOR VOSSLER, B.S. "O-Oh, that's just a little assignment," jokes Miss
Eleanor Vossler, the teacher of Senior English at O.H.S.
Besides Senior English, Miss Vossler teaches English III,
and Literature III and IV. She also sponsors the Junior
Class, the Newspaper, and is a co-sponsor of Kayettes.
