1921 OHS Yearbook

~ Class History ~

On September 5, 1917, fifty-four grade school graduates went to O.H.S. in guest of more knowledge and pleasure. Miss Gallagher was appointed their class sponsor. This year was spent mostly by worry and work and thinking of the joys of the years to come in their High School career.

September of 1918 found the Class of '21 only forty-one strong but with the determination of a hundred. They entered into all the social affairs and were a great part of the making of the school for the year.

In this year the class began to show their ability to do things by winning the silver cup in the inter-class contests. Three Sophomore girls were on the basketball team and one or two of the boys. Miss Gallagher, our sponsor for the second time, let us to the top and the year closed with the Class of '21 still forging ahead.

Thirty of the original class of fifty-four assumed the dignity of Juniors in September of 1919. Mr. Lowe was appointed sponsor for this year and it was through his ability that the Junior girls won the inter-class championship and the boys went to the second place. The Class of '21 took the cup for the second time in this memorable year. A number of our boys and girls took important parts in athletics this year and it was by their help that O.H.S. went to the top.

But in September of 1920, the Class of '21 came into its own. Twenty-six strong, they looked ahead to a year full of work and success. To their great pleasure, Miss Pulliam and Mr. Carr were appointed as their sponsors. Under the wise and vigorous leadership many things were undertaken. Every affair the Senior class entered into was more than a success. The Seniors put on many interesting affairs and are scheduled to give the class play, May 16. In debate, athletics, school affairs and classroom, they assumed undisputed leadership. To crown a year of accomplishment they have published this book, their most noteworthy achievement There are still a few events to which we look forward, the Senior Play, Senior Day and the Junior-Senior Reception.

We are now leaving our High School life to start an even larger school life, where we hope we shall ever keep alive as inspiration to our efforts, our motto - "Deeds, not Dreams."
