1921 OHS Yearbook

~ Girls' Basketball ~

Fannie Barber (George), captain of the team for past two years, has won much admiration for her excellent playing. George plays the game well at any position, but her regular place is guard. She is one of the Seniors who is leaving us at the close of the year.

Naomi Langent (Naomea). Although a Freshman, Naomi has been able to hold a position at guard on the team. She plays a good game, and will be back next year.

Leona Coen (Lee-Onie), a forward of this season's team and has the honor of making the largest number of goals. Leona has the ability to evade her guard and always makes a place to which her team-mate can play the ball.

Jenness Ruhlandt (Jennesie) played the position of center this season. Jenness generally gets the "tip-off" and plays an exceptional game. She has done well and will make an enthusiastic player next year.

Bernice Fuller (Bernie). Played the position of running center this season. She plays an excellent game at this point and but few of her opponents have ever outclassed her. Bernice is a Senior and will be missed next season.

Helen Fitzgerald (Fitz). A player classed among the best, she is always after the ball and helps it out of the enemy's territory. Helen is a Sophomore, so we expect to have her with us two more years.

Some of the substitutes who made it possible for the form of our first team are: Mildred Lanphere, Zelma Shearer, Bernice Joyce, Gladys Fee and Bessie Bryan, and they should have their share of praise.
