INDIVIDUAL FEATS CARRIED
CINDERMEN THROUGH SEASON

The Trojan season brought out individual accomplishments in many fields. Osawatomie managed to chalk up 13 points at the Ottawa Relays with Jim Reeve scoring five points by taking first in the discus throw. The Trojans placed second in the Paola Relays with 41 points. These points were accumulated when first place was taken by Carl Brown in the high jump, Jim Reeve the discus, and Byers, Kuder, Williams and Spears in the 880 relay. The Gardner Relays came next where Lynn dickey set a new pole vaulting record of 10 feet 6 inches. Brown jumped 5 feet 8 inches to take the high jump. The final score for Osawatomie was 41. At the Pittsburg Relays the Trojans acquired 6 points when Reeve took second in the discus and Kuder took fourth in the low hurdles. Individual accomplishments brought 4 points to the trojans at the Ft. Scott meet. Sumrall took second in the broad jump, Reeve fifth in the discus, and the Medley relay team fifth. the Trojans took fourth place at the Baker Relays with 30 points. Reeve took first in the discus and second in the shot put, dickey tied for first place in the pole vault at 11 feet with Immaclata's O'Connor. With 69 points, Osawatomie placed second in the Paola Quadrangular Meet, Paola took first, Bonner springs third, and Garnett fourth. Reeve took first in the shot put and the javelin and second in the 100 yard dash. Dickey, Crowl, and Evans finished in a three-way tie for first in pole vault at 9 feet 9 inches. Byers, Kuder, Williams, and Spears took first in the 880 relay. Tom Kuder and Jim Reeve went to the Regionals at Neodesha where Kuder took second in the low hurdles and Reeve placed first in the discus throw, both qualifying for the State Track Meet at Wichita. Reeve managed to place fifth in the discus at Wichita, but Kuder was unable to quality for the finals.
