~ STUDENT COUNCIL ~

STUCO WAS ACTIVE IN
DIRECTION OF SCHOOL FUNCTIONS

The Student Council was organized in the 1930's. It has been a member of the National Association of Student Councils for many years.

The president was elected last Spring by all classes except the Seniors. The other members of the elected body, three Seniors, three Juniors, two Sophomores, and two Freshmen, were selected this fall by the students. These representatives must have maintained a 2.5 grade average.

"The purpose of the O.H.S. Student Council shall be to uphold the school traditions, to promote school activities for the betterment of this high school, and to install a closer relationship between the pupils, the faculty, and the community."

The Stuco has sponsored student activities by having parties, assigning basketball concessions to different organizations, sponsoring the Homecoming Queen Conests and appearances of students on radio and television. This past year the Council established a Safe Driving Program and published a student handbook called the "Tom-Tom". Stuco also attended a workshop at Lawrence and sent the President-elect to a workshop for Stuco Presidents.

Mr. Church and Dpon Byers check over material on the agenda for the next meeting.
Bill Mills, Suzanne Frazier, Ramie Ricketts, Dean Spears, Connie Gonterman, and Don Byers leave for a coke at the Flamingo.
Stuco members Sharon Byers, Alberta Byers, Patsy Sanders, Donetta skeens, and Frank Barnes tidy up the school yard.
