Prophesy

of

Senior Class of 1943

A few days ago in the Physics lab, Mr. Reb and the students were just completing a time traveling machine. Since we could put it to no better use, we decided to go to 2500 A.D. Just after we had started though, the machine broke down. The hyper-acidisalisalisylic thermathrockular-applestasher valve had sprung a leak. There we were stranded in 1953. So, with nothing better to do, we decided to trace a few of the members of the class of '54. - - - - - And here they are!!!

Lavenia McQueen - -

is still waiting for Allard, but likes to lay the field where other men are concerned. By the way, Doug is still making his weekly trips to Nevada, Missouri.

Robert Barker - -

commonly known as "B-Foot Barker after struggling many years as Section hand on the MKT is now Gen. Supt. for that railroad.

Rod Dever - -

in Drexel three doors east of Kelly's, a new pool parlour has been opened by Rod Dever. Rod has been voted the best dressed poolshark in Drexel. When asked if he were married, he answered, "Yes, I married by wife, Mrs. Dever."

Foris McNeil - -

successful in vamping a man, now lives in the country on a small farm raising chickens and children by the hundred.

Amos Bashor - -

turned to the African wilds and is now a famous explorer in the Belgian Congo. After many Safaries through the jungle, he finally sttled down and married a Ubangi.

Anna Marez - -

is now teaching the boys at Camp Phillips the Mexican Hat Dance.

"Chic" Cherry - -

after serving ten years as an apprentice in the Mortuary business has finally settled into the job of Dep't. Manager for the Heinz Pickle Co.

Edna Rodewald - -

was disappointed young in life when the Journalism Class was dissolved but she decided to be brace and carry on and she is now learning Jornalism the hard way -- she's a Foreign correspondent in Greenland.

Ralph Ross - -

is teaching wrestling. Drop in and see him sometime, his place is called "Ross's Rigorous Wresting Rings"

Opal Cochran - -

is her insane desire for the quiet life turned to the country and now operates a rabbit farm.

John Carr - -

pursued his musical career and even wrote the now famous "Carr's Fifth Symphony" but in his lust for excitement and two-fisted action, he turned to Hollywood and can now be seen in "Two Gun Pete".

Arline Priest - -

is a cartoonist for the New York Tribune and most of her work is found in the funny section of the paper.

Bob McLaughlin - -

now Gen. Robert McLaughlin, is piloting the Osawatomie Rhythm Rascals on their engagements from Osawatomie to Lane to Paola to Beagle to Osawatomie to Lane to Paola to Beagle to Osawatomie. With them travels the sonster of Sweet Swing, Helen Marie Shively.

Hazel Mathia - -

is now a barker at Coney Island, advertising Mary Newlan, the world's foremost snake charmer.

Charles Crane - -

has finally been located in a carnival side show challenging all corners to a twelve round knockout bout. Charlie remained victorious until challenged by Gladys Lloyd, an ex-WAAC.

Bernice Polk - -

is singing hot polkas and jitterbugging in a night club in Harlem.

Bill Dickey - -

on safari through Arkansas, has been appointed chief cook and bottle washer for the Fausett Safari, Inc. The Government discovered an illegal "still" in the hill country and Bill has been searching for the "still" for three years without even stopping for sleep. "I just gotta find that thing," he says.

Agnes Speaks - -

is working in an airplane factory in Wichita running competition to "Rosie, the Riveter".

Eddy Erickson - -

wizard of the trap drums is, when released from the Army, to be put to work by Western Union in South Africa sending messages by Tom-Tom.

Beth Wiseman - -

is now in the White House, secretary to the President, and yes, Democrat's Roosevelt is still President and is discussing a seventh term.

Charles Hays - -

after many hours of diligent searching we finally find charles Hayes in Washington. After being graduated from Harvard "Summa Cum Laude" he joined the FBI and at present is shadowing some men who sold three hogs over the ceiling price. He is disguised as a farmer to carry out his deception.

Bernadeen Baker - -

is Chief Yodeler for Earl Carrols Vanities.

Bill Piggott - -

after many years of travel finally settled down and now manages the Osawa Theatre. His wife, Dorothy, operates the Pop Corn stand in the lobby.

Rosemary Wilhoit - -

after ten years is now a senior at K.U.

Bill Brooks - -

is now traveling through the mid-west with "Old Doc Golden Fleece's Medicine Show".

Mamie Pedrow - -

As soon as the war was over, Duane and Mamie went to Mexico. Duane is now President and Mamie is the gracious "First Lady" of Mexico.

Bill Pierce - -

is a second Eddie Duchin and is using his talents to entertain his girl friends in Council Grove.

Erma Lou Billhimer - -

in her lust for riches decided to become a gold digger. However, it's not the kind one would be led to believe. Daily she loads her pick and shovel on her little burro and treks into the mountains in search for gold.

Jim Buckman - -

assisted by Wayne Chambers is now managing McGinty's Collosal Carnival Shows operating the Hula Girl Side-Show. Both entered this phase of show business in the belief that it possessed great morale building qualities.

Louise Weaver - -

is president of the Business and Professional Women's Club in Kansas City. She was also selected Woman of the Year for 1953.

Bill Thompson - -

won the Pulitizer Prize for 1953 for his book, "Ten years as a Private".

Dorothy Russell - -

because of her love for USO dances during her high school days has been appointed to a life-time job as USO hostess at Beagle.

Billy Heckart - -

through years of diligent work and self-sacrifice has been made time-keeper on the Katy section. Mrs. Marcelle Heckart and the children always meet Bill at the front porch whenever it's payday.

Ona Mae Hays - -

after many years of globe trotting, has finally settled down to a peaceful life at the Osawatomie Lake where she sells fishing worms at thirty cents a dozen.

Walter Howell - -

has been voted by the WAAC's "King of the Soda Jerks" and most eligible bachelor.

Delores Smith - -

has just won the Shucks Soap Contest for 1953 for her letter on "How To Stay Happy Though Married".

Joan Anderson - -

now works at the "Green Parrott" out in Tuscon, Arizona.

Cloman Weaver - -

has just finished writing another book which he has promised to give to any high school student who proves himself worthy. It is entitled "Do Not Do This Six Weeks What You Can Do Next Year".

Erma Feuerboen - -

is found finally in the middle of New York. She is tending those poor unfortunate souls who have sleeping sickness. She runs a flophouse with beds for twenty-five cents a night.

Jack Moler - -

is manager of his own dry-goods store, puts in a plug every time he gets an opportunity which is pretty often. He also manages the Hunsperger Ice Cream Parlour.

Helen Griffin - -

has been traced to her own Nursing Home in the suburbs of Osawatomie. She is head nurse for Second Worls War Veterans. She says "Of course the pay isn't much, but the fun I have playing class!!!"

Leona McDowell - -

is still in Osawatomie. She's running the Osawatomie Coffee Shop and her three children are washing dishes for her.

Ralph Yocum - -

has finally been discovered in New York. It seems that his beautiful eyes attracted the Maybeline Co. and his eyes are found in every popular magazine advertising mascara.

Maggie Kleinhein - -

has been found at Mount Algonoquion College sompleting her fourteenth scholarship. She says, "Every year somebody gives me a new scholarship, I've decided to make a career of it."

Marvin Caylor - -

now owns a huge fleet of buses under the fleet name "Caylor's Roller Coasters".

JoAnn Sherod - -

is operating an orphan home or a home for stray cats.

Merle Weaver - -

because of his political experience in OHS has been appointed by President Roosevelt as ambassador to the Bahama Islands.

Wayne Springer - -

is the greatest coach Notre Dame has seen since Knute Rockne, and is still very independent concerning the women.

Doris Winslow - -

is carrying on a vigorous campaign with the slogan "I want to play football at Notre Dame".

Bob Hohenstein - -

is playing in the Opera House of Osawatomie with Miss Mary Cortner as his leading lady in that thrilling mellodrama "That Horrible Hop-Cat, Hohenstein". Miss Cortner will leave at the close of the season to occupy the position of Dancing Instructor at OHS.

Mary Vasquez - -

is a blues singer in a night club in St. Louis.

Lavern Martin - -

now star salesman of A. S. Leeps sleeping pills. He also has written a best seller entitled "Sketch of a Snoreless Sleeper in Slumber".

Merle Jean Vest - -

has the little gold ring that matches her diamond and is living on a big ranch in California with lots of little cowboys.

Eldon McKoon - -

is an executive in the Humane Society. He was awarded this honor because of his unique idea of breeding platinum fleas for blonde dogs.

Richard Mueller - -

because of his handsome appearance, turned to the stage and screen. He is currently appearing in the now "El Snuffo" production "Humphrey Bogart Rides Again".

Lee Roy Raymer - -

had his big chance when Lawrence Tibbett fell ill and as his understudy Lee Roy claimed the fame justly due him.

Flash! Latest Newscast! The great "Tarzan of the Ages" alias Glen Tush is now traveling over the country lecturing to all school children on how to be able to swing through the trees and become as agile and quick as he.

Jack Judd - -

finally succeeded in getting a job on one of the local trains between Osawatomie and Paola as an engineer. He now has the pleasure of blowing the whistle at all the girls on his route.

Perry Richardson - -

is a famous advertising model for "Tiger" hair tonic and has his picture in all the popular magazines.

Jack Spears - -

famous for his crew hair cuts now has a barber shop all his own on 5th Avenue, New York, known as Crew Cut Jack's Barber Shop.

Roy Wack - -

is master mechanic for the Mo. Pacific at Osawatomie with a couple of beautiful blonde secretaries.

Paul Wilson - -

is (brace yourselves) manager of a Girlie-Girl Show in Chicago.

Manford Wobker - -

is nicely situated on a farm outside of town with his wife, Verlie, and their three children.

Max Young - -

now has a white-collar job sweeping out every night at the Osawatomie Recreation Parlour.
