FEBRUARY 14, 1951 - MAY 9, 1977

Funeral services for Gary Spears, Osawatomie, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Eddy-Birchard Chapel in Osawatomie. The Rev. Robert Thompson officiated. Organ selections were provided by Mrs. Nelle Dollar and Mrs. Nancy Snyder sang "The Lord's Prayer."

Serving as pallbearers were Richard Wilson, Phil Stifler, Larry Fountain, Lorin Crawford, John Swearingen and Carmen Martin. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

Mr. Spears, who was 26 years of age, died May 9, 1977, at the Anderson County Hospital, Garnett, of injuries received in a motorcycle accident on April 24.

The son of Jack and Hazel Bumgarner Spears, he was born Feb. 14, 1951, in Paola. He was a 1969 graduate of Osawatomie High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie and of the Osawatomie Jaycees.

Mrs. Spears worked as a boilermaker for the Daniels Construction Company, LaCygne, and owned and operated the Main Street Tavern in Osawatomie.

On April 1, 1972, he was married to Vicki Koger at the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie. Two children were born to the couple, a daughter, Tellye Linette, age 3, and a son, Gary William II, 18 months.

Surviving are his wife and children of the home and his mother, Mrs. Hazel Spears, Osawatomie; a sister, Miss Laura Spears, Wichita; a brother, Jack Spears and his grandmother, Mrs. Rose Seese, Osawatomie.

His father preceded him in death.
