CLASS OF 1969 FEBRUARY 3, 1951 - FEBRUARY 22, 2003 Michael Alan Padgett, 52, Oronogo, MO, former Osawatomie resident, died February 22, 2003. He was diagnosed with cancer Jan. 28, 2003. He was born February 3, 1951 in Paola, the son of Earl F. and Velma Miller Padgett. He attended Osawatomie High School and graduated with the Class of 1969. He and Merilee Kay Matney were married Mary 29, 1970 in Osawatomie. For the past few years he had been employed as a bus driver and teacher's aide by the Webb City School District in Webb City, MO. His love for children was apparent in his employment. He had also owned and operated an automotive parts store and worked as a conductor for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and as an industrial tool salesman. Mr. Padgett was also a racing enthusiast. Those preceding him in death included his father. Survivors include his wife, Merilee Padgett of the home; his daughter; Marla Flynn of Carterville, MO; his son, Monte Padgett of Seneca, MO; his mother, Velma Lore of Osawatomie; two sisters, Peggy Chase of Osawatomie and Kay Elwood of Osceola, MO; a brother;, Don Padgett of Rohnert Park, CA; and four grandchildren. Services were in Christ Church of Oronogo. Pallbearers were Kevin Cooper, Mark McCoy, Toby Bottom, Don Padgett, Monte Padgett and Joseph Flynn. Cremation followed the services. Parker Mortuary of Joplin, MO cared for the arrangements. Memorials were to Truman Elementary School in Webb City. |
