Stephen Earl Spellman age 62, of Osawatomie, KS died Friday, October 26, 2012 at his home after an extended illness.

Steve was born in Leavenworth, Kansas to Earl Richardson Spellman and Gladys Mae (Craney) Spellman on July 3, 1950. He was the second of three sons.

Steve grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in the class of 1968. He was an athletic man and excelled in his hobbies such as golf, bowling, darts, and pool and later could always be found cheering for the Chiefs, Royals or KU during nearly every game.

Steve spent most of his working career as a carpenter but later in life, he was a caregiver for the Life Care Center of Osawatomie and found his passion was in caring for others, he was doing what he loved and did best.

Steve was blessed with three daughters, a son, and four step children during his lifetime and treasured all of them. His grandchildren lit up his world. He spent a lot of time with them and was even fortunate enough to spend his last days playing bingo with them.

In death, Steve was surrounded by family and friends that loved him and will miss him dearly.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Mike Spellman.

He is survived by his children, Tricia Busta, Christina Smith, Treva Penn, Justin McCoy, his stepchildren Kenny, Kyle, Brian, and Cindy Spurgeon, and Brandi Barrett, his older brother John Spellman, his grandchildren Jade Dozier, Ryleigh and Ashlynn Busta, Kiersten, Karly and Noah Wilson, Jace Garza-Cox and his beloved companion Dorothy White whom he spent everyday of the last year of his life and was the happiest he had ever been.

VISITATION: 6-8pm Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Eddy-Birchard Chapel in Osawatomie.

ROSARY PRAYERS: 10AM Wednesday, Oct 31, at St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30AM BURIAL: Osawatomie Cemetery .
