Michael Wayne Burgoon, age 62 of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas, died Tuesday February 12, 2013 at his home in Kansas City, MO.

Michael was born February 17, 1950 in Paola, Ks. He was the younger of two children born to Wayne A. “Buck” Burgoon and Betty Marie (Corbet) Burgoon.

The family moved to Osawatomie and Michael graduated from Osawatomie High School in the class of 1968.

He joined the United States Army in 1969 and was stationed in Korea. He was discharged in 1975.

He then worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a Licensed Mental Health Tech II. The youngest appointed in the state of Kansas at age 27. He helped open the Rainbow Mental Health in Kansas City, Ks. He then went to Johnson County College in Overland Park, Ks, and on to MIT in New York City where he took his career into Interior Design.

Michael lived in New York City from 1980 to 1992. He worked for Thomas Britt, NYC, where he did Interior design. In 1992 Michael moved back to Kansas City and began working for JFG Inc.

He was a volunteer for Good Samaritan Project in Kansas and was a Lobbyist for Kansas City, Mo. in Washington DC in 1995.

Michael was preceded in death by his partner, Frank Pistey in 2001; his mother, Betty died in 2008 and father Wayne in 2000.

He is survived by his sister, Ramona Kay Jones of Paola, Ks; other relatives and friends.

Visitation 3-6PM Sunday, February 17th at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Burial Lane Cemetery, Lane, KS.
