Russell Lee Berry, 57, Osawatomie, died Monday, July 10, 2006, in Olathe Medical Center.

Born July 21, 1948, in Osawatomie, he was the son of Jesse and Margaret Jane Reed Berry. He grew up in Osawatomie where he attended school, graduating in 1968 from Osawatomie High School. He then attended Fort Scott Community College on a scholarship.

Mr. Berry was employed by the Miami County Highway Department on the road and bridge crew. He had also worked as an aide at the Osawatomie State Hospital and in the water plant for the city of Osawatomie.

He was a member of the Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Osawatomie.

Those preceding him in death included his parents; a brother, James Berry; and a sister, Janet Bandy.

Survivors include two sons, Troy Walker of Kansas City, Mo., and Russell Berry Jr. of Overland Park; two brothers, Larry Joe Berry of Rochester, N.Y., and Jackie Berry of Osawatomie; two sisters, Judith Thompkins of Osawatomie and Joyce Spruill of Lenexa; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Friday in Osawatomie Cemetery.
