CLASS OF 1968 NOVEMBER 11, 1950 - OCTOBER 29, 2008 Phyllis Ann Sanders, 57, Iola, a former resident of the Osawatomie community, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Olathe Medical Center. Born Nov. 11, 1950, in Cheyenne, Wyo., she lived in the Osawatomie area for a number of years and was a 1968 graduate of Osawatomie High School. On Feb. 8, 1969, she and Harvey L. Sanders were married. They lived in Osawatomie before moving to Iola 30 years ago. Mrs. Sanders graduated from Allen County Community College and the Mary Grimes School of Nursing in Chanute. She worked as a registered nurse at Allen County Hospital in Iola and was then director of Home Health for a number of years. Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had held numerous local and state positions. Those preceding her in death included her mother, Lillian Cartwright Bartlett. Survivors include her husband, Harvey Sanders of the home; a son, Eric Sanders of Centerville; a daughter, Anne Huston of Iola; four brothers, Glenn Bartlett of Eudora, Jess Bartlett of Tonganoxie, Richard Bartlett of Austin, Texas, and Teddy Bartlett of Merriam; and nine grandchildren. Services were Sunday at the First Christian Church in Iola. Inurnment will be in Green Valley Cemetery of rural Osawatomie.
