LINDA VAN HORN PENNOCK

Linda Lee Pennock, 60, of rural Lane, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at her home.

Born Nov. 1, 1948, in Paola, she was the daughter of Vernon Dale and Mary Christine Matherly VanHorn. She was the second of their three children. She graduated in 1966 from Osawatomie High School.

Mrs. Pennock worked in several secretarial positions at the Osawatomie State Hospital from August 1966 until she retired Dec. 16, 2006. She also worked in the Osawatomie Social and Rehabilitation Service office for a short time during that period.

On June 20, 1966, she married Willis R. Graves in Osawatomie. They became the parents of three children. They moved to Colorado and back to Osawatomie. Their marriage ended in divorce in April 1980.

In 1985, she married Richard Grant. They were divorced in 1987.

On March 5, 1998, she and Robert Charles Pennock were married. They made their home in rural Lane.

Those preceding her in death were her father and a sister, Becky Eilts.

Survivors include her mother, Mary VanHorn of Osawatomie; her husband, Robert Pennock of the home; two daughters, Christine Godfrey of rural Lane and Amanda Graves of Osawatomie; a son, John Graves of the home; two stepsons, Brett Pennock of Osawatomie and Bobby Pennock of Wichita; a sister, Judith Kay Scheinert of Flagstaff, Ariz.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services were Tuesday at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Graves, Bruce Godfrey, Pat Gaines, Nick Godfrey, Dustin Eaks and B.J. Eilts. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Isenhower and Christopher Godfrey.
