CLASS OF 1965 MAY 1, 1947 - JANUARY 29, 1998 Alexandria, Va.--Services for John Eddie Ursery were held Feb. 4 in Greene Funeral Home in Alexandria. Mr. Ursery, a native of Osawatomie, Kan., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998 in an Alexandria hospital. He was 50. Born May 1, 1947 in Osawatomie, he was the son of Bradie and Johnnie Ursery. He grew up in Osawatomie and received his education in Osawatomie schools, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1965. After his graduation he served a four-year tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Ursery was employed as a communications technician by American Telephone & Telegraph in Alexandria for 29 years. He and Bernice Mayo were married and they became the parents of two children. He was a member of the Brown Chapel AME Church of Osawatomie. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Ursery, Morrisville, N.C.; a son John Michael Ursery; a daughter, Karisa Lynn Ursery, Raleigh, N.C.; his mother of Osawatomie; three brothers, Kenneth Ursery, Newton Ursery and Bradie Ursery, Osawatomie, and Bobby Dryden, Kansas City, Kan.; and a sister, Rutha L. Eastland, Riverside, Calif. The Rev. Rachel Ewell officiated. Burial was in Quantico National Cemetery at Triangle. |
