Services for Chris Edward Tyrell, Main and O'Neal, Osawatomie, were held Thursday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mr. Tyrell died Oct. 5, 1986, near Osawatomie. He was 39.

He was born May 18, 1947 in Paola, the son of Paul Edward and Katherine Maxine Whetstone Tyrell. He grew up in Osawatomie and attended local schools, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1965.

He worked for Hallmark in Kansas City before serving with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam in 1970, he again worked for Hallmark. He later began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.

Mr. Tyrell married Patsy Armstrong in Osawatomie. They were parents of two sons before their marriage ended in divorce. He later married Jeannie Cannon Erway. This marriage also ended in divorce.

He was a member of Hanlin Kelly Post No. 2258, Vetererans of Foreign Wars, of Osawatomie and the United Transportation Union. Mr Tyrell was active in the Osawatomie softball leagues.

Preceding him in death were his mother; a son, Chad Edward; a brother, Paul; and a sister Patricia.

Survivors include his father, P.E. Tyrell Sr., Osawatomie; his step-mother, Mary Tyrell, Osawatomie; his son, Craig Edward Tyrell, Corpus Christi, Texas; four brothers, Ronnie D. Huffman and Denis Sumrall, Osawatomie, Bryan Tyrell, Lawrence, and Kenneth Sumrall, Coffeyville; and four sisters, Leslie Bowker and Susan Dempsey, Osawatomie, and Sharon DelaCruz and Sheila Sumrall, Olathe.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Richard A. Roberts Jr. Diana Wright sang, accompanied by Rosalie Bowker, organist. Pallbearers were Jim Bumgarner, Tom DelaCruz, Dan Peterson, Ron Johnson, Fred Hatfield and Glen McDonald. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his name for his son, Craig Edward Tyrell, at First National Bank and Trust.
