CLASS OF 1965 OCTOBER 19, 1947 - JANUARY 24, 2016 Patricia L. Hendricks, age 68 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 24, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri after braving a second battle with breast cancer. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Clinton United Methodist Church. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri. Inurnment will be in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton United Methodist Church or to the Samaritan Center and may be left in care of the funeral home. Patricia was born to the late Ernest and Margaret(Lomor)Jones on October 19, 1947 in Paola, but grew up in Osawatomie, Kansas where she graduated with the Class of 1965. She had a lifelong love of music and the arts, which led her to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Baker University, where she made many wonderful memories with her Alpha Chi Omega sisters. As a music teacher, Patricia loved sharing her passion for the arts with her students. She touched many lives during her teaching career at Cherokee Elementary School (Overland Park, Kansas) and Clinton Middle School. Patricia was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and the choir. She also directed the music and choir at Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a period of time, which is the church where her beloved husband, Paul, is a member. Patricia was open-minded, selfless, fun-loving and hardworking. She loved all people fiercely and believed in leaving the world a better place than she found it. Over the course of her life, she worked tirelessly for community projects and organizations she believed in, helping to found the Friends of the Library and sitting on the Henry County Library Board for 20 years; serving on the board of the Samaritan Center for 17 years; bringing community organizations together by founding A.W.A.C. (Agencies Working and Communicating); as a member of Chapter EN of P.E.O.; and volunteering for Meals on Wheels, teaching other to read through the Library's literacy program and assisting her husband with fundraising for the Truman Lake Cance Relief Fund. She was also a member of Study Club, DAR and enjoyed participating in several Bridge and Bunco groups. Patricia loved traveling, working in her yard, and being "Grammy" to her only grandchild Maggie, who was one of the highlights of her life. Among survivors is her husband, Paul of 46 years; her children Annie Rogers and Jason Hendricks; sister-in-law, Sharon (Sam) Montgomery; nieces and nephews; Keegan (Audra) Jones, Darcy Jones, Matt Montgomery,and Sarah Montgomery; and many other very special friend and family.
