Donna Lee Hughes, 66, died Sept. 24, 2013, at Olathe Medical Center.

Donna was born Sept. 7, 1947, in Paola to Jess and Hazel Stultz Battersby.

She grew up in Osawatomie where she graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1965.

She married Donald R. Hughes Sr. on May 29, 1965, in Paola. After their wedding they moved to the Kansas City area and then to Olathe in 1978 and to Spring Hill in 1995. She was employed by Time Warner Cable in Kansas City, Mo., for 29 years, retiring in 2012.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and liked working in the garden. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, and her special dogs. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; half-brothers, Dwayne, Donald and Billy; and half-sisters, Marie, Maxine and Myrtle.

Donna is survived by her husband, Donald of the home; children: Cheryl Koehn (Daniel) of Pittsburg, Donald Hughes Jr. (Marcia) of DeKalb, Mo., David Hughes (Sallee) of Spring Hill and Curtis Hughes (Jenny) of Garnett; 14 grandchildren; and sister, Martha Gibson of Blue Springs, Mo.

Mass of Christian burial was Friday, Sept. 27, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W. Main, Gardner, KS. Burial followed at Osawatomie Cemetery. Visitation was Sept. 26 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS.

Memorials may be given to the Divine Mercy Building Fund.
