CLASS OF 1964 JANUARY 23, 1945 - DECEMBER 7, 2012 Johnnie Michael Newlan, 67, army veteran and retired truck driver of Venita, OK, a long-time resident of Carmi, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2012 due to diabetic complications. He was born January 23, 1945, in Tonganoxie, KS to parents Clarence and Mary Becker Newlan of Tonganoxie, who preceeded him in death. Johnnie is survived by a sister, Carol A. Newlan Smith of Crossville, IL, brother Donnie C. Newlan of Venita, OK, son Michael and daughter-in-law Kelly of Wayland, Michigan, daughter Melody Newlan Stewart of Gardner, KS, son Kevin and daughter-in-law Jennifer of Baldwin City, KS. Nieces Elizabeth "Beth" Newlan and Cynthia "Cindy" Smith Kelly of San Antonio, TX, Grandchildren, Alexander, Natasha, and John Tyler Newlan, Victoria, Nathan, Grace, and Anna Stewart, Amber, Haley, Talon Newlan, 3 great-grandchildren, and many other extended relatives and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceeded in death by a grandson, Phoenix D. Newlan, sister-in-law Frankie J. Newlan, and nephew Donnie C. Newlan II. A memorial service and burial was held at a later date in Osawatomie, KS. Private Burial was Saturday, June 15, 2013, next to his parents at the Osawatomie Cemetery. |
