CLASS OF 1963

MAY 24, 1945 - JUNE 1, 2006

Lance Reppert died on Thursday, June 1st, at the KU Medical Center. He will be missed by his family and friends, who will assemble on Sunday, June 4th, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for visitation followed by the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence, KS, to praise God for Lance's life and service to many. Interment will follow at the Osawatomie, KS Cemetery.

He will lie in state from 1 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 3, at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main Street, Osawatomie, Kansas.

Lance was born with his identical twin brother Brent on May 24th, 1945 to Marine Sgt and Mrs. Nelson Reppert and was raised in Osawatomie, KS. He attended public schools there graduating from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1963 and then graduated with a B.A. in History from the University of Kansas in 1967. He spent his entire working career as a reference librarian, first at the Kansas City, MO Public Library and then at the Lawrence Public Library. He was a member of the Osawatomie Presbyterian Church and later transferred his membership to the Lutheran Church in Lawrence. He was also a lifelong member of the Kansas City St. Andrew Society. As these might indicate, he loved God, books and Scottish culture. He dedicated his life to service to others, following the example of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, Lance expressed a desire that donations be made to the Osawatomie, KS Public Library for the purchase of books.

Lance was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Isabel (Nelson) Reppert, and by many house-bound senior citizens for whom he provided volunteer service for over 30 years, including transportation, help with household chores, and information and conversation to keep their minds sharp and their hearts warm.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Brent and Carla Reppert of Neenah, Wisconsin, his sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Tom Johnson of Chicago, Illinois, his niece Elizabeth Reppert and nephews Andy and Jeffrey York, Adam and Kyle Reppert, and beloved cousins in Delphos, Ks. He is also survived by many friends who will, with the family, treasure in their hearts the memories of his kind deeds, his introductions to others who became their friends, his constant sharing of useful information and humor, and his faith in God.

The next words that Lance will hear will come from the Lord, 'Well done, thou good and faithful servant….Enter into the joy of your Lord.'

Arrangements by Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main Street, P. O. Box 430, Osawatomie, KS 66064, (913)755-2114.
