Veronica Mae Miller, 59, longtime rural Paola resident and Osawatomie native, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Miami County Medical Center in Paola.

She was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Osawatomie, the daughter of James and Millie Sharp Johns. She was raised in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1962.

She married Ralph W. Miller on April 7, 1962, in Paola. They lived in rural Paola.

Mrs. Miller was a nurses aide in several local nursing homes and most recent was a life skills trainer with Lakemary Center, which she enjoyed immensely.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Paola and enjoyed volunteering there. Most of all, she enjoyed and loved spending time with her seven grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Ralph W. Miller of the home; three daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" Minden of Paola, Eileen Block of Platte City, Mo., and Roxann Montgomery of Keller, Texas; a sister, Marjorie Stoner of Olathe; a brother, Jim Johns of Grandview, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola. Another visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her name to the church.
