Janet Eleanor Bandy, 54, Osawatomie, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, in Osawatomie.

She was born March 19, 1944, to Jesse and Margaret Jane Reed Berry at Osawatomie. She grew up in Osawatomie and was graduated from Osawatomie High School with the class of 1962.

She was married to Clifford Bandy on June 2, 1968. They made their home in Osawatomie.

Mrs. Bandy began working at Osawatomie State Hospital on January 28, 1979, as a data entry operator. She was designated a board member of the judicial department on September 3, 1980. She left her employment at the state hospital, but was rehired as a mental health aide on July 30, 1984.

She resigned from the hospital on February 21, 1990, and then worked at Kansas Custom Embroidery until her illness caused her to resign.

She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother and a nephew.

Surviving are her husband, Clifford Bandy of the home; her son, Nelson Duane Berry of Osawatomie; a stepdaughter, Lorene Johnson; two sisters, Judith Thompkins of Paola and Joyce Spruill of Osawatomie; three brothers, Larry Joe Berry of Rochester, N.Y., Russell Berry of Paola and Jackie Berry of Osawatomie; and several grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at the Elmdale Cemetery in Osawatomie under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral home. The Reverend Boyd Groves officiated.
