CLASS OF 1961 JANUARY 12, 1943 - JUNE 3, 2005 Roy W. Pinneo, 62, longtime Paola resident and Osawatomie native, died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Olathe Medical Center. Pudy, as he was known, was born Jan. 12, 1943, in Osawatomie, the son of L.W. and Ollie Katherine Pinneo. He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated in 1961 from Osawatomie High School. He was married to Judy Gallagher on June 30, 1962, in Osawatomie. They made their home in rural Paola and became the parents of three children. He joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1967 and was employed at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in De Soto in 1968 until his unit was called to active duty that year during the Vietnam War. He served with his unit in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged in 1970. After his discharge, he worked with a construction company for more than 20 years. His last employment was with Honeywell in Kansas City, where he worked as a carpenter/millwright for more than 15 years before retiring due to his illness. Mr. Pinneo was a member of Carpenters & Millwrights Union Local No. 714. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and working with his cattle. For the past few years, he had enjoyed building his cabin in Warsaw, Mo. He loved to take his children and grandchildren to the lake. His parents, L.W. and Ollie Pinneo, a son, Kurt Pinneo, and brothers and sisters, Raymond Russell, Betty Hendrickson, Harold Dean Russell, Obie Russell, Richard Russell and Doris Jean Prosser, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Judy Pinneo of the home; a son, Troy Pinneo, and a daughter, Nicole McCaskey, both of Paola; two brothers, Carl Russell of Paola and Charles Pinneo of Osawatomie; a sister, Mary Dick of Garden Plain, Kan.; and seven grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) at Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and burial will be in Osawatomie Cemetery.
