JERRY PARMENTER

CLASS OF 1961

FEBRUARY 4, 1943 - MAY 3, 1980

A former Osawatomie resident, Jerry Lee Parmenter, 37, of St. Louis, Mo., died in an automobile accident near there Saturday. Services for Mr. Parmenter were held Tuesday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1943, i Chaffee, Mo., the son of Bland and Mary Edith Smith Parmenter. The Parmenter family moved here in 1957 from Mount Vernon, Ill. Mr. Parmenter was a graduate of Osawatomie High School with the class of 1961. He received a degree in business administration from Emporia State University in 1965 and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity.

After his graduation, he joined the Peace Corps and the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed by Trans World Airlines since 1966. After living in Kansas City, Mo., for 10 years, he was transferred to St. Louis, Mo., in 1976 where he was supervisor of in-flight service.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Mr. Parmenter was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Gene.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bland Parmenter, Osawatomie, and two brothers, Thomas E. Parmenter, Paola, and Charles K. Parmenter, Elmira Heights, N.Y.

The Rev. Almon Martin officiated at the services. Mrs. John Dollar, organist, provided the music. Pallbearers were Leroy Schwartzman, Bob Goodwin, Doug Slawson, Tim Taylor, Rich Rowe and William Wharry. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.
