CLASS OF 1961 FEBRUARY 14, 1943 - APRIL 24, 1994 Services for Robert Lee Marriott, 607 Oscar Ave., Osawatomie, were held Tuesday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mr. Marriott, 51, died Sunday, April 24, 1994, in his home. He was born Feb. 14, 1943, in Salina and he was the son of Brendan and Ethel Stricker Marriott. He spent most of his life in the Osawatomie area and was a 1961 graduate of Osawatomie High School. He also attended Kansas State University. Mr. Marriott was a musician. He was the leader of the Fabulous Continentals and several other groups that performed in this area and all over the country since the early 1960s. He and Karen Marks weere married and they became the parents of two children. Their marriage ended in divorce. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop No. 106 in Osawatomie. Mr. Marriott was a member of the Fellowship of Love Church of Kansas City, Kan., and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Osawatomie. Survivors include a son, Robert Brendan Marriott, Osawatomie,; a daughter, Kristina Marriott, Kansas City, Mo.; his parents of Osawatomie; two sisters, Nancy Frazier Cordova, Tenn., and Brenda Minden, Osawatomie; and his fiancee, Ruth Jacquinot, of Osawatomie. The Rev. Earl Dekat officiated. Tapes of Mr. Marriott's music was played. Pallbearers were Bradie Ursery, John Wilson, Andrew B. Wymore, Joe Vaugner, Dave Geiser and Jim Feighner. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Kuder, Tom Kuder, John Cragg, John Allison, Bill Huffman and Pete Banda. Burial was in the Gardner Catholic Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name. Robert Lee Marriott, 51, longtime resident of this area, died Sunday, April 24, 1994, at his home in Osawatomie. He became ill in September 1992 with liver cancer. Bob, as he was more commonly known, was born at Salina, Kan., on Feb. 14, 1943, the son of Brendan and Ethel Stricker Marriott. The family moved to Osawatomie in 1948. He attended the Osawatomie schools and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1961. He attended Kansas State University. He was an Eagle Scout with Osawatomie Boy Scout Troop 106. He was married to Karen Marks, and they became the parents of two children. The marriage ended in divorce. Mr. Marriott was a musician and had the Bob Marriott Band. He established the band after graduating from high school and played the organ, piano, guitar and French harp. He worked at Ralph's Food Center in Osawatomie while going to high school. He later worked at the Osawatomie Lumber Co. for a time. He liked to collect insulators. He was a member of the Fellowship of Love Church in Kansas City, Kan., and the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Osawatomie. Surviving are his son, Robert Brendan Marriott of Osawatomie; a daughter, Kristina Lee Marriott of Kansas City, Mo.; his parents, Brendan and Ethel Marriott of Osawatomie; two sisters, Nancy Frazier of Cordova, Tenn., and Brenda Minden of Osawatomie; and his fiancee and best friend, Ruth Jacquinot of the home. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 o'clock tonight, Monday, at the Wilson and Son Chapel in Paola, where a prayer service will be said at 7:30. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola, with the Rev. Earl Dekat officiating. Tapes of Mr. Marriott's music will be played following the service. Burial will be in the Johnson County Catholic Cemetery in Gardner. Pallbearers, will be Brady Ursery, John Wilson, Andy Wymore, Joe Vaugner.
