Joyce Marie Atchison, 58, Osawatomie, died March 22, 2002 in the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

She was born November 21, 1943 in Walker, KS, the third of seven children of John Thomas and Margaret Irene Riedel Baumstimler. The family later lived in the Lane community before moving to rural Osawatomie. She attended Osawatomie High School and graduated with the Class of 1961.

She and Richard Leroy Atchison were married October 19, 1963 in Emporia. They moved many times because of his military career. They became the parents of two children. He preceded her in death December 3, 1982.

Mrs. Atchison was a homemaker, but did work for a time at the Ball Glass Plant in Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Baumstimler.

Survivors include her son, Jerome Atchison of Conifer, CO, and daughter, Jolene Brumagin of Union City, PA; her mother, Margaret Irene Johnston of Osawatomie; a brother, John Thomas Baumstimler of Virginia Beach, VA; five sisters, Juanita Sue Harter of Osawatomie, Judith Ann Schultz of Wichita Falls, TX, Mary Jane Couture of Oakland, ME, Jodi Rae Alley of Pratt, KS, and Jenice Evans of Blairstown, MO; and three grandchildren.

Services were held in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home with cremation following.
