DELORES JUNE LLOYD COOK

Delores June Cook, 73, Osawatomie, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, in her home.

She was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Paola, the seventh of the eight children of Mark Henry and Jeanette Downs Lloyd. She attended Plum Creek rural school north of Osawatomie and was a 1949 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

She and Floyd Thomas Cook Jr. were married Oct. 21, 1950, in Osawatomie where they made their home. They became the parents of two children.

Mr. and Mrs. Cook owned and operated The Cow Palace in Osawatomie during the 1950s and 1960s. She later worked at the L.D. Discount Store, Gift Corner and H&H Variety Store and managed The Sentiment Shop, all in Osawatomie.

She was a member of the Assembly of God in Paola.

Those preceding her in death included her husband and two brothers, Mark Lloyd and Keith Lloyd.

Survivors include a son, Scott Thomas Cook of Osawatomie; a daughter, Jan Louise McGill of Paola; two brothers, George Lloyd of Baytown, Texas, and Glenn Lloyd of Kingwood, Texas; three sisters, Esther Weide of Beaumont, Texas, Gladys Artzberger of Wimberly, Texas, and Janet Conrad of Osawatomie; and four grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday in the church, followed by burial in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church in care of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie.
