FRANCES FLOYD LINVILLE

Frances Elizabeth Floyd Linville, 72, Osawatomie, died January 6, 2003 in the emergency room in Miami County Medical Center in Paola.

She was born May 9, 1930, a daughter of Hazel Jackson Floyd and Elmer Floyd Sr. She grew up in Osawatomie, attended local schools and graduated in 1949 from Osawatomie High School.

For a time she lived in Chicago, IL and worked for the owner of the Chicago White Sox baseball team.

She returned to Osawatomie to care for her mother, who had health problems with diabetes complications. Mrs. Linville also worked for many years at the Heritage Manor, now Life Care Center of Osawatomie, before she was forced to retire with complications caused by diabetes.

She was a member of the St. James Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church in Osawatomie and Paola.

Those preceding her in death were three brothers, Kenneth W. Floyd, Donald E. Floyd and Harry A. Floyd, and a sister, Edna Floyd.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Tibbs of Osawatomie; a son, Rod Floyd of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Dorothy R. Smith of Olathe and Daisy Blackburn of Seattle, WA; a brother, Elmer Floyd, Jr. of Paola; and one grandchild.

Services were held in Eddy Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Pallbearers were Mike Berry, Brian Alberty, Lester Lindsey, Robert Hill, Mike Brady, Dewan Shephard and Richard Floyd. Honorary pallbearers were Bert Ripley, Ronnie Johnson, Sr., Vincent Skannal, Dennis Brady, Bobby Hill, Jr., Lonnie Floyd, Brice Skannal, Mike Khoep and Damon Floyd, Jr. Burial was in Osawatomie.

Memorials were to the church and the American Diabetes Association.
