CLASS OF 1948

NOVEMBER 21, 1929 - DECEMBER 5, 1982

Robert F. Springer, 53, of Osawatomie, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1982 at Bethany Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

Son of the late William and Amy Stegall Springer, he was born Nov. 21, 1929, in Arkansas City, Kan. He moved to Osawatomie in the spring of 1941. He attended schools there and graduated with the class of 1948.

April 11, 1949, he was married to Willa L. Matherly and they became the parents of five children.

Mr. Springer worked at Pure Gold Dairy in Osawatomie until the company closed. He then worked for Hawthorne Melody Dairy in Kansas City as a superintendent until failing health forced his retirement in 1975.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 921 of Osawatomie.

Surviving are two sons, Martin F. Springer and Robert Kevin Springer, both of Osawatomie; three daughters, Mrs. Leslie Eckhoff and Mrs. April Jarrett of Meade, and Mrs. Amy Gronniger of Troy; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Springer of Offerle, Wayne T. Springer of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Don Griffin.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. , Tuesday, at the Osawatomie Cemetery, under the direction of the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home of Osawatomie. Elks services were held at graveside.

Pallbearers were Lee Atwood, John R. Mullins, Jim Wallace, Donald Weaver, Floyd Cook and Gary Prothe.

A memorial was established in his name to the Elks Scholarship Fund.
