WALTER CLAYTON "CORKY" PARKER

Walter Clayton "Corky" Parker passed away at his home in Greta, LA on November 28, 2006.

Corky was born May 23, 1930, the first son of Elwyn and Myrtle Eyman Parker. He grew up in the Osawatomie area and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1948.

He and Carol Lee Landers were married on September 14, 1950 at the First Christian Church in Osawatomie. Two daughters were born to this union, Robyn Rolene and Wendra Gale.

He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in July 1949 and began his service at Boston, MASS. During his career in the Coast Guard, he served at Mobile AL, Galveston, TX, Port Aransas, TX, Kawai, Hawaii, Dubuque, IA, St. Paul, MN, Owensburg, KY, Duluth, MN, Leavenworth, KS, Savannah, GA, and New Orleans, LA where he retired in June 1980. During his service he received the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal and Silver Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene. He is survived by his wife, daughters Robyn Matherne of Greta, LA, and Wendy Gaudin of Marrero, LA, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, James Parker of Princeton, KS.
