HARRY OBERMEIER

CLASS OF 1948

Harry C. Obermeier, 52, of Osawatomie, died Sunday, April 18, 1982. He was born at Louisburg, March 5, 1930, the son of Edward and Pearl Morgan Obermeier.

He moved with his family to Osawatomie when he was in the 7th grade. He completed his education there, graduating with the class of 1948. Mr. Obermeier entered the Army in 1951 and served until 1956.

He worked for the MIssouri Pacific Railroad for several years and then operated his own plumbing business in Osawatomie. Later he began working as a sheet metal worker through the Sheet Metal International Association Local No. 29.

March 26, 1954, he was married in Olathe to Mary Wolken.

He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his father, a brother, and a daughter, Patricia.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Obermeier of the home; three sons, Edward Obermeier of Paola, Paul Obermeier of Osawatomie, and David Obermeier of Wichita; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of Paola, and Mrs. Mary K. McAtee of Osawatomie; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Obermeier of Osawatomie; two brothers, Glenn E. Obermeier of Kansas City, and Lloyd Obermeier of Roeland Park; his sister, Mrs. Roberta Hime of Shawnee, and three grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, with the Rev. S. J. Wietharn officiating. Lisa Stoner, accompanied by Judy Jeck, sang family selections. The rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie.

Burial, with military graveside services, was at the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Morris Zimmerman, Lee Hinsley, David Rainwater, Louis Wolken, Steve Obermeier and Olin Hime.
