WILLIAM LEE "BILL" FISHER

William Lee "Bill" Fisher, age 80, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died July 3, 2010 at his home.

Bill was born January 26, 1930 in the Pottawatomie Township of Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of Lewis Herman and Effie (Wasmer) Fisher. He was the youngest of their three children. Bill was raised by his Uncle Bill and Aunt Dorothy Fisher. He graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1948.

Bill was united in marriage to Sharon Lavonne Smith on January 23, 1955 at Osawatomie. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of two children. Bill was self-employed as an electrician and plumber. He had also worked for the City of Osawatomie, Missouri Pacific Railroad, and the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, Kansas.

Bill had several hobbies that kept him busy. He enjoyed working with his hands repairing saddles and working with metal products, collecting coins, fishing, and especially going to watch activities and sports events involving his grandchildren. He was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Osawatomie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Beverly Petek and Darlene Hanfeld.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; two daughters and their husbands Tanya and Rodney Madden of Osawatomie and Kimberly and Eric Pringle of Temple, Texas; four grandchildren Zachary, Lacey, Haley and Darbey; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. He will lie in state after 3 p.m. Wednesday with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Memorials are to the Osawatomie First United Methodist Church.
