Marjorie L. Gilchrist, 77, Osawatomie, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at the Christian Care Cottage in Ottawa.

She was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Osawatomie and was the youngest of five children of Isaac and Jessie Farris. She grew up in Osawatomie and graduated in 1948 from Osawatomie High School.

She and James L. Gilchrist were married in February 1962 in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Osawatomie.

Mrs. Gilchrist worked as a psychiatric aide at the Osawatomie State Hospital. She worked there from April 2, 1956, until Sept. 23. 1978, when she retired due to failing health.

Bowling, traveling and spending time outdoors brought her enjoyment. She loved going for walks, growing flowers and even mowing.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home.

Cremation is planned and private burial services will be held.
