Omer Eugene Caraway (Gene), 85, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Houston. Graveside services will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 13102 North Freeway, with Governor Clements officiating.

Gene was born on December 2, 1930 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in Osawatomie, KS, with the Class of 1948, and was married to Mary L. Caraway for 51 years before her death in 2000. Gene served in the United States Navy and worked 46 years for the railroad, retiring from Union Pacific Railroad. He was also a dedicated Christian and a longtime member of Candlelight Church of Christ. After retirement, he filled his days with family, visiting friends and working on projects in his woodworking shop.

Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by daughters Cathy Ray, Rhonda Caraway Krueger and husband, Jim, Gina Salway and husband, Kasey, son Gary Caraway and wife, Debbie, Grandchildren, Kevin Ray and wife Sandy, Eugenia Laskowski and husband, Kendal, Brandon Caraway Sr. and wife, Jamie Lynn, Sean Salway, Matthew Salway, Mary Kendall Benton, great grandchildren, Taylor Ray, Cameron Ray, Kendall Ray, Wyatt Laskowski Peyton Mac Caraway, Brandon "Bo" Caraway Jr., Meyer Laskowski, Ryker Caraway, Charlie Caraway and numerous other relatives and friends.
