DOROTHY IRENE STONE BENNER

  CLASS OF 1947

DECEMBER 9, 1929 - MARCH 21, 2009

Dorothy was born, Dec. 9, 1929, in Miami County, to Roby and Esteleen Moraine Stone.

She graduated from Osawatomie High School, in 1947, and in 1950, she was united in marriage to Walter Adams, in Osawatomie. Together they had two children, before his passing in 1960.

In 1975, Dorothy was united in marriage, to Tom Benner, in Paola.

She worked for the Osawatomie State Hospital in the food service department until her retirement in 1977. She enjoyed reading, loved her cats, loved visiting on the phone with family, enjoyed the grandchildren and step grandchildren, she use to go camping with Tom and enjoyed the outdoors. During the holidays, she got a lot of great joy watching the impact Tom had on children of the community, when he played Santa for many years, and he himself enjoyed it immensely.

Dorothy, was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Walter and Tom, sister, Thelma Springer and brother, Merle Stone,

Surviving are her children, son Stephen Adams and wife Charlotte, of Osawatomie, daughter, Connie Davis and husband Russell, of Lane, step Children, Shirley Steele and husband Ray, of Olathe, Steve Benner and wife Dixie, of Osawatomie, Susan Benner, of Gladstone, MO., Marsha Savage, of Osawatomie, Mary McDougal and husband Woody, of Osawatomie, Tina Browning, of Paola, 5 grandchildren 11 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother Francis Stone, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lloyd Stone, of Olathe, Kansas.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Services were held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel. Paola Chapel in Paola.
