Services for Betty J. Harris, 1006 Pawnee Drive, Paola, are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Wilson & Son Funeral Home

Mrs. Harris, 67, died Monday, March 24, 1997 in Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She had been hospitalized for four months.

She was born Sept. 3, 1929 in Osawatomie, the daughter of Charles R. and Effie McClaire Grimes. She grew up in the Osawatomie community and was a 1947 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

She and Robert Harris were married Sept. 7, 1946 in Paola where they made their home. In addition to being a homemaker, she was mployed in the office of Kansas City Power and Light Co. in Paola for about 19 years.

She was a member of the Miami County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. She loved flowers and liked to grow them as a hobby.

Among those preceding her in death were a sister, Amy Grimes, and a brother, Harry Grimes.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Bob Harris of the home; a son Mike Harris of Paola; three daughters, Sheila A Harris of Independence, Mo., Linda Throm of Climax Springs, Mo., and Pam Young of Paola; a brother, Harold "Bus" Grimes of Osawatomie; and six grandchildren.

The Rev. Chris Meyer, pastor of the First Christian Church of Paola, will officiate. Virginia Karr will provide organ selections. Pall bearers will be Milburn Prothe, Andrew Martin, Stan Grout, John Hinman, Steve Courtney and Marty Dashiell. Burial will be in the Paola Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
