Robert M. Crane, 76, died Feb. 17, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Osawatomie, the son of William Roy and Iris Kindt Crane. He graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1947. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was an accountant for Standard Oil and retired owner of Crane Accounting, Hutchinson.

He belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a captain during the Korean War.

On Jan. 29, 1955, he married Carol Conboy in Pittsburg. She died Sept. 5, 1995.

Survivors include: a son, Kevin Robert, Wichita; two daughters, Stephanie Crane and Shannon S. Crane, both of Hutchinson; two brothers, Charles Crane, Coffeeville, and Eugene Crane, Omaha, Neb.; two grandsons, Thaddeus James Crane, Atlanta, Ga., and Brett Richard Crane, Salina; two granddaughters, Mandy Smith and her husband, Jason, Lindsborg, and Anna Elizabeth Crane, Wichita; and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Madison, Lindsborg.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Crane; and a granddaughter, Darlene Smith.

Rosary will be at Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 7 PM at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Feb. 22, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Stuart Smeltzer presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 21 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be sent to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
