VERNON D. CAYLOR

CLASS OF 1947

JUNE 18, 1930 - AUGUST 4, 2002

Vernon Dean Caylor, 72, Topeka, a native of Rantoul, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at a Topeka hospice house.

He was born June 18, 1930, in Rantoul, the youngest of the six sons of Elmer Lawrence and Altha May Carey Caylor. He graduated in 1947 from Osawatomie High School.

Mr. Caylor retired in 1995 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., where he worked as a supervisor in the maintenance department.

He and Martha Joan Baugher were married June 18, 1947. She preceded him in death Dec. 9, 1993.

He was married to Dorothy Nye Campbell on Nov. 7, 1994.

Mr. Caylor was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90, AF&AM.

Also preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Lori Caylor, who died Dec. 25, 1981.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Caylor; a son, Ronald Dean Caylor of Georgetown, Kan.; a daughter, Jeannie Lavonne Durst of Topeka; two stepsons, Edward H. Campbell III of Topeka and Benjamin T. Campbell of Asotin, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Betty Jo Eakes, Tecumseh, Kan.; a brother, Marvin Earl Caylor of Osawatomie; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Services were today (Wednesday) at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka, followed by burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
