WILDA CASTLEBERRY WHITE

SEPTEMBER 4, 1929 - OCTOBER 28, 2001

Wilda Kathaleen White, 72, Paola, a native of Osawatomie, died October 28, 2001 in Country Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paola.

She was born September 4, 1929 in Osawatomie, the daughter of Clarence Edgar and Bulah Cole Castleberry. She grew up in Osawatomie and received her elementary education in Rose Valley rural school and Meek Grade School and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1947.

She and Robert Wendell White were married Nov. 13, 1947 and they became the parents of five children. They made their home in Spring Hill, Kansas City, KS, Osawatomie and Paola. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1971.

In January 1963 she went to work at the Osawatomie State Hospital and was a psychiatric aide. She suffered a disabling stroke in February 1973.

Those preceding her in death were a son, Robert Duane White, and three brothers.

Survivors include her children, Glenn E. White of Edgerton, Beverly J. Brown and Barbara L. Cummins, both of Osawatomie, and Cheryl A. Wager of Topeka; four brothers, Earl Castleberry of Topeka, John Castleberry and Paul Castleberry, both of Garnett, and Harold Castleberry of Enid, OK; 12 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were in the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. Pallbearers were John White, Tom Outler, Jason Folsom, Robert Folsom, David Brown and Dewey Fortner. Burial was in Lane Cemetery.

Memorials were to the activity department at Country Haven.
