GILBERT LEON YOUNG

AUGUST 24, 1928 - JULY 22, 1998

Yuma, Ariz. - - -Gilbert L. "Gib" Young, Yuma, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 in Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was 69.

He was born Aug. 24, 1928 in Osawatomie, Kan., the son of Lee Roy and Grace L. Young. He grew up in Osawatomie and was a 1946 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

Mr. Young served in the U. S. Air Force for 23 years before retiring in 1970. During his service, he received the Meritorious Service and Air Force Commendation medals.

He then was employed by the U.S. Customs Service as a sky marshall and customs officer for 18 years. He retired in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita M. "Johnnie", of the home; daughters, Linda K. Greffenius, El Paso, Texas, and Connie Jo Davis, Las Vegas; sons, Bryan L. Young, Yuma, and Kenneth R. Young, Littleton, Colo.; brothers, Larry Young, Larned, Kan., Max L. Young, Tulsa, Oka., and Harold Young, Paola, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

Private cremation services were held.

A memorial has been established in his name to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Phoenix.

Arrangements were cared for by Kammann Mortuary.
