Helen Lorene Weaver, 74, Stillwater, Okla., former Osawatomie resident, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in West Haven Hursing Home in Stillwater.

She was born June 5, 1928, in Osawatomie, one of the seven children of Alexander Louis and Mamie Mae Landers Weaver. She grew up in Osawatomie and attended local schools, graduating in 1946 from Osawatomie High School.

She was a telephone operator for the Osawatomie Phone Co. until it went to the dial system. She then worked as a switchboard operator for the Osawatomie State Hospital 18 years before retiring in 1983.

Those preceding her in death were two sisters and a brother.

Survivors include three sisters, Mary P. Browcaw and Marjorie Weaver, both of Stillwater, and Evelyn Diehm of Olathe.

Services were Wednesday in Osawatomie Cemetery under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie.
