FLOYD THOMAS COOK, JR.

JULY 3, 1929 - NOVEMBER 21, 1995

Floyd Thomas Cook Jr., 67, lifelong resident and former Osawatomie businessman, died Thursday, Nov. 21,1995, at Olathe Medical Center.

He was born July 3, 1929, in Osawatomie, the son of Floyd Thomas and Dora Mae Jones Cook.

He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1946. After graduating from high school, he attended Baker University.

He served with the United States Army during the Korean War from April 1951 to March 1953. After his discharge, he returned to Osawatomie.

He was married to Delores June Lloyd on Oct. 21, 1950, in Osawatomie. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of two children.

Mr. Cook was a meat cutter and a partner with Art Dickson in Parks Meat Market for nine years. He then became a partner with Jim Wallace at the Cow Palace for five years. He had worked at various grocery stores, the last being the former Sutherland's Super Market in Paola, where he retired in 1987.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 921 of Osawatomie.

His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, June Cook of the home; his son, Scott Cook of Osawatomie; his daughter, Jan Louise McDill of Paola; his brother, Duane Cook of Spokane, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Osawatomie Cemetery. The Rev. W. Randy Visconti, pastor of the Paola Assembly of God, officiated. Kevin Barron sang "Look What the Lord Has Done." Burial was under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home of Osawatomie.
