Mary Lou Cavinee 76, a lifelong Osawatomie resident, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, in Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

The daughter of Robert and Latona Rohrer Wagers, she was born April 9, 1927, in Osawatomie. She grew up in Osawatomie, attended local schools and was a 1945 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

She and Harry Olen Cavinee were married Oct. 12, 1947 in the United Methodist Church in Osawatomie.

Mrs. Cavinee worked as a retouch artist for Eitner Studios in Ottawa and as a messenger clerk for Missouri Pacific Railroad. She began working for the railroad soon after graduating from high school in 1945 and retired in 1978.

Her memberships included the First United Methodist Church in Osawatomie where she served as alter chairman for many years. She was also a member of Hanlin-Kelly Post No. 2258 Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees and Harmony Family and Community Eduction. She enjoyed flowers and was adept at designing floral arrangements.

Those preceding her in death included a brother who died in infancy. Survivors include her husband, Harry O. Cavinee of the home.

Services were Monday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bud Schaub, Doug Estes, Raymond Waggoner, Lloyd McCrea, Ken Weide, Keith Weide, Eugene Weide and Jack Weide. Burial was in Beagle Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
