NEIVES VASQUEZ DELA CRUZ

Neives DelaCruz, 75, Osawatomie, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 in her home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Osawatomie. She was one of the nine children of Trinidad and Graciana Vengas Vasquez. She grew up in Osawatomie where she attended school and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1945.

She and Albert Thomas DelaCruz Sr. were married Jan. 25, 1947, in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Osawatomie. They became the parents of four children.

Mrs. DelaCruz was employed as a seamstress for Mode O'Day Manufacturing in Osawatomie for 15 years. She was employed by the company until it closed in the mid 1970s.

Her memberships included St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and its Altar Society and Hanlin-Kelly Post No. 2258 Auxiliary of theVeterans of Foreign Wars, all in Osawatomie.

Among those preceding her in death were her husband, Albert DelaCruz Sr.; a brother, Manuel Vasquez; and two sisters, Mary Govea and Jay Brady.

Survivors include four children, Steven DelaCruz and Deborah Folsom, both of Osawatomie, Albert Thomas DelaCruz Jr. of Olathe and Esther Collins of Ottawa; a brother, Joe Vasquez of Osawatomie; four sisters Toni Carter of Minneapolis, Dolphina Esquevel of Monrovia, Calif, Nellie Humphrey of Ottawa and Delores Mason of South Bend, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services were Saturday in the church, followed by burial in OsawatomieCemetery. The rosary was said Friday night in the church. Arrangements were cared for by Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
