MARY JEAN PLAISTED PRICE

Mary Jean Price, 78, an Osawatomie native and former Paola resident, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, in her home in Springfield, Ill.

The daughter of Roy Waldo and Mildred Florence Nichelson Plaisted, she was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1945.

She married Charles A. Price on Nov. 16, 1956, in Miami County. They lived in Paola until moving to Liberal in the mid 1960s and then to Springfield in 1972. Her husband worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. and was transferred to the two cities. They continue to own property west of Paola.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church, where she was active in the Mission board and in foreign missions in Brazil and Mexico. She traveled to Mexico several times and did missionary work with the Indians. She was a member of the Board of Deaconesses and many other committees.

A brother, Roy Robert Plaisted, who died in 1984, was among those preceding her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Price; a daughter, Ki McCurley of Springfield; a son, Kirk Price of Harrisburg, Ill.; three brothers, Ronald Plaisted of Lane, Wesley Plaisted of Olathe, and Larry Plaisted of North Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Gerry Dial and Joanne Pritchard, both of Paola; and seven grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 201 S. Main St. in Chatham, Ill. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the church, 1220 Outer Park Drive in Springfield. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
