Alice V. Whitney, 75, Salem, Mo., a native of Fontana and former Osawatomie resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001 in Phelps County Hospital in Rolla, Mo.

She was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Fontana. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1945.

Mrs. Whitney was a retired teacher.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs and Montauk Homemakers. She was a former Girl Scout leader and chairman of the American Heart Association chapter in Salem.

Prededing her in death were her husband, R. J. Whitney; a son, Richard Eugene; and two sisters, Anna and Jeanie.

Surviving are a son, Wallace Whitney of Salem; two daughters, Anita Bedsworth of Independence, Mo., and Eleanora Fisher of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday in D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel in Independence, Mo. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
