Dorothy Emilie Marie Kriesel Bartels was born on November 21, 1926 at Ohiowa, NE to Arthur and Emma (Schweer) Kriesel. She was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Ohiowa and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church Gladstone, NE.

She graduated from Osawatomie High School with the class of 1945.

She spent many years being a bookkeeper for a CPA and also her husband's business and retired from Texaco Oil Co.

She married John H. Bartels on June 6, 1948, living in Topeka and Paola and in 1960 moved to Kansas City and has been a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Dorothy spent years teaching children the love of Jesus and was an active LWML member serving in the many offices and in zone. She is also a Stephen Minister Leader here at Peace Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband John of 59 years, her daughter Denise and husband Todd Fedo of Independence, MO; her grandsons Patrick and Austin Fedo of Independence, MO; two sisters Leona McCauley of Royal Palm, FL and Lois and husband Wayne Hay of Greeley, KS; many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Clara Tyler a brother Keith Kriesel and her parents in law, John and Emma Bartels.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church 8240 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64138. A visitation will be from 9 to time of service at the church. Burial will be at Longview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to the Peace Lutheran Church or the Peace Lutheran Day Care.
