Georgia Irene Pulhamus, 81, of rural LaCygne died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at Johnson County Nursing Center in Olathe.

Born May 16, 1927, in Wichita, she was the youngest of the three children of George Clausen and Thelma Katy Jenkins Hunsperger. She graduated in 1945 from Osawatomie High School and worked at the American State Bank in the mid-1940s.

On April 2, 1948, she and Paul Richard Pulhamus were married in Osawatomie. They made their home in the Cadmus community and became the parents of four children. He preceded her in death March 13, 2004.

She was a homemaker and farmer. She also drove the school bus for Cadmus Elementary School and Parker Grade School from the early 1950s into the 1970s.

She was active in the Parker United Methodist Church and Cadmus Grange, and she served as a 4-H leader.

Survivors include four daughters; Karen Lindestrom of Topeka, Mary Jennings of Hendersonville, Tenn., Susan Hiebl of Overland Park and Peggy Sparks of Wellsville; a sister, Evelyn Demastus Redding of Edmond, Okla.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services were Tuesday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Burial was in Cadmus Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Lindstrom, Jim Jennings, Rick Hiebl, Scott Sparks, Jack Schwarz and Kurt Schwarz. Honorary pallbearers are: Glen Merrill, Robert Hampton, Roy Stroup, Fred Harvey, Eldon Mills, Kenneth Hightower and Clayton Carothers.
