DONALD DAVID GRIFFIN

APRIL 29, 1927 - JANUARY 25, 2015

Donald Griffin, age 87, passed away in his sleep at home in Port St. Lucie on Sunday, January 25th, 2015 of natural causes.

He was born on April 28th, 1927 in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Osawatomie, Kansas, later moving to Kansas City, Missouri.

Don's tour of life is leading him to his next adventure. He was a man of many interests and talents. From his early days as a Navy Frogman to an instructor for UDT (Seal) till he continued on with his service at Perry Oceanographic (later Lockheed Martin). At that time he helped to design and Pilot the Lotus submarine in the movie "The Spy Who Loved Me".

He loved photography, especially underwater photography and was nicknamed "Frogtographer". Don had many interests, he was a collector of knives, Japanese swords, special weapons and antique bottles. He loved everything outdoors: camping, kayaking, bicycling and diving.

Don had a vast knowledge of many things through his life journey and shared that knowledge with those around him.

He was very loved and will truly be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Peggy Griffin, his 3 children, Muriel, Gregory and Jeffrey and their adopted son Daniel Huggenberger.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the UDT Seal Museum in Fort Pierce in Don's memory. Memorial services were held on Thursday the 29th at First Congregational Church 2401 Sidonia, Port St. Lucie at 11:00.
