Harold Dave Elliott Sr., 76, Osawatomie, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at his home.

He was born May 22, 1927, in Osawatomie, the son of Hamilton G. and Freda Carolyn Hahn Elliott. He grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie schools, graduating in 1945 from Osawatomie High School.

Mr. Elliott served with the U.S. Navy from 1946 until 1966.

On July 24, 1949, he and Bertha Estelle Robey were married. Due to his career in the military, they lived in many places. They became the parents of six children.

After his retirement, they moved to Osawatomie from Omaha, Neb. His wife preceded him in death Aug. 21, 1990.

After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Elliott worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier from the Osawatomie Post Office. He also began farming at that time and continued farming after his retirement from the Postal Service in December 1984.

A brother, Joseph C. Elliott, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his six children, Harold Dave Elliott and Mary Fortner, both of Leadville, Colo., Robert H. Elliott of San Diego, Calif., Barbara Anne Elliott and Elizabeth Gill, both of Osawatomie, and Linda Garrison of Eldora, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Saturday at the Spring Grove Cemetery southwest of Osawatomie. His daughter, Linda Garrison, was one of the officiants. Military services were conducted by the Kansas City Naval Reserve Command.
