Lawrence - - Services for Betty Maxine Wolfe, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.nm. Thursday in the Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.

Mrs. Wolfe, 68, died Monday, May 27, 1996 in the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

She was born Oct. 8, 1927 near Olathe, the daughter of Vernon Byron and Susan Belle Walter Cheasbro. She attended Paola public schools and Osawatomie High School from where she graduated in 1945. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Baker University in 1949 and had done graduate work at the University of Kansas.

She taught in Easton High School, Leavenworth High School, Linwood High School and Centennial Elementary in Lawrence. She served as a substitute teacher and taught homebound students, both in Lawrence.

Her memberships included Round Table; Eastern Kansas Chapter No. 50, Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America; University Women's Club at the University of Kansas; Plymouth Women at Plymouth Congregarional Church; and Betty Washington Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution in Lawrence. Mrs. Wolfe was a past regent of the DAR chapter.

She and H. Glenn Wolfe were married June 4, 1950 in Baldwin City. They had made their home in Lawrence since 1956.

Amomg those preceding her in death was a brother, Chester Leroy Cheasbro, who died in 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Marie Preston, Dallas, and Pamela Sue Wolfe, State College, Pa.; a son, Richard Charles Wolfe, Lawrence; a brother Harold Raymond Rhoades, Hillsdale; a sister Ruth Marie Green, Raytown, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

Burial of the cremains will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

A memorial has been established in her name to the Kansas University Endowment Association for the Renal Department of the university of Kansas Medical Center.
